2026 VETO SPORTS

School Futsal League

The proposed 2026 School Futsal League will have 2 divisions: -

                                                                     Premier League

                                           (Highest Division)

                                          League One

                                                                        (Lower Division)

The 2 divisions will be based on differing "strength and ability levels of competition and skill" and will be available in each of the existing 4 age groups (12, 14, 16 and Open) in

4 conferences – Central, Northern and Western (Nissan Arena) and Southern (Coomera ISC).

The SFL format change has been bought about following observations from previous seasons that have seen several schools and teams consistently stronger than others in the same conferences. This difference in abilities of teams has created "blow out" scores, and it was suggested from several sources that it would be preferrable to create divisions of similar abilities in the 2026 SFL season for a more even level of competition.

Schools will be allowed to nominate teams into one or both of the 2 divisions: -

Points to note: -

1. Age groups will be combined ie., 14/Open and 12/16s to play on the same Gala days to allow schools to reduce transport costs and allow students to play in 2 age groups where schools may need to prop up team numbers ie., a player in the 16s division can also play in Open divisions. and 14s can play in 16s etc.,

NO students will be allowed to play in different divisions of the same age group.

2. Schools can nominate teams in any of the divisions, in all age brackets (ie., a school can nominate a 14 Boys team in the Premier League and a separate 14 Boys team in League One) but schools can only nominate “One” team in each separate division. Schools must supply 2 separate team lists and nominated League One players may play up in the Premier League divisions, but nominated Premier League players cannot play down.

3. Nominations will have to be sent out in Term 3, 2025 and will close in Week 6 of Term 4.(12 Yrs noms due Week 3 , Term 1, 2026). After receiving and reviewing all nominations QSF will allocate the teams from each age division into the divisions with 6 or 10 teams in each pool. Schools will then be given the right of reply to the organized divisions and rearrangement will occur if needed

4. All teams in each of the divisions will play 9 matches over the 3 Gala days (10 team pools) or 10 matches ( 6 team pools = 2 rounds of 5 matches) with Plate, Shield and Champions Finals in Term 4. Then top of the table after the 9 matches will be crowned Division Premiers and the top 2 of each division will play in Champions Final Day. Teams finishing 3rd & 4th will play Shield Finals and teams finishing 5th & 6th will play Plate Finals.

Gala Days will be run as follows –

        12, 14, 16 Gala Day 1 in Term1                  Opens Gala Day 1 in Term 1

        12, 14, 16 Gala Day 2 in term 2                  Opens Gala Day 2 in Term 1

        12, 14, 16 Gala Day 3 in term 3                  Opens Gala Day 3 in Term 2

        12, 14, 16 Finals in term 4.                         Opens Finals in Term 2
